BVHA is proud to
have developed the Practice Design Competition in conjunction with the
Veterinary Review.
The competition seeks to find excellence in
veterinary design, good use of space, innovation (especially novel solutions to
problems) and value for money.
Any type of practice can enter: urban or
rural, large or small, multi-vet or solo-vet, whether in a new building, or
having altered existing premises.
Entries can be for a new building, a
conversion, or an extension or alteration to existing premises. Practices do
not need to be Veterinary Hospitals to enter the competition.
To be
eligible the project must have been completed within the previous two years.
The winner will be announced during the BVHA Annual Congress in October of the
relevant year.
In the four previous competitions (held in 2000, 2002,
2004 and 2007), projects ranged in size from just over £10,000 to well
over £1 million.
The form should be completed and submitted with
a portfolio. It is not intended that large amounts of paperwork should be
needed, but entries could include:
- Plans both pre and post improvements
- Photos both pre and post improvements
- A description of the practice history, current
position and future plans
- Details of outstanding design features
- Details of specific problems and design solutions
- Approximate costs
A short-list will be compiled by the panel of judges and
these practices will be visited to decide the winner.
